If a cat is doing it's business for more then 2 minutes it's a cat sensor fault. Not even sure why they alert you, it should always complete on its own when they leave :) monicaleighn • 3 yr. ago. So far it seems to be completing. I could’ve swore the first few times it wouldn’t.
Either you have a hall effect sensor failure, (which is very rare) or your DFI is sending erroneous data to the control board. The litter is above the fill line or in excess of 10lbs. The cat sensor has not been reset after adding weight. The waste drawer has too much weight. The unit is sitting on an uneven surface - grout lines on a tile floor or in a bathtub. The unit is pushed into a corner, against a wall, or furniture. We have five LR3s, and other than having to replace a couple of DFI sensors, this has been our only ongoing issue. To add, the sensor is two $.01 pieces of plated metal that get litter basically dumped on them with every cycle. So they corrode / get dirty and give tons of false pinch alerts. Sometimes the pinch alert requires a full unplug to reset. I kept finding my LR stuck upside down, leading the cats to find other places to do their messes. Within 2 weeks I started getting false full errors, and then today it has failed due to the pinch detect fault. I've spent hours watching self repair videos, cleaned the sensors, cleared the pinch detectors, and after 2 cycles it is back to pinch default errors. They over engineered this thing to have sensitive parts exposed to corrosion.
